The Spanish Studies program is pleased to have the support of the South Florida community. In recognition of the valuable services the program provides to businesses, schools, and the community at-large, donors have recently begun to fund program initiatives, generous gifts we will be announcing soon.
If you are interested in giving financial support to our program, here are a few ways your generous contribution could be put to work:
Scholarships can be set up on a year-to-year basis or as an endowed fund that produces scholarship awards into perpetuity. Gifts of any size can make a difference in a student’s life. Donors have given for specific purposes, like for study-abroad opportunities, for minorities, for internships in community organizations, etc.
Endowed professorships named as the donor wishes, provide for the funding of eminent scholars in the field of Spanish Studies. These scholars can be truly transformative for a program and FAU is actively seeking support for this endeavor.
Event funding provides the donor with an opportunity to help bring cultural or scholarly programming to the university and South Florida community. Generous donors have supported events such as film series, art exhibitions, lecture series, etc. that have had wonderful attendance and have brought accomplished scholars, artists, and performers to FAU.
Library acquisitions and special collections are a crucial part of any academic program and FAU’s Spanish Studies is actively building a library collection in our field. You could help by donating books, films, or special collections related to Spanish and Latin American language and culture.
If you are interested in one of these ideas or if you have a unique proposal, please contact Dr. Michael J. Horswell, Head of the Spanish program (Horswell@fau.edu or 561-297-3863).
