The Spanish Studies program provides courses required by the State of Florida for certification as foreign language teachers in the public school system. Requirements vary, but a Spanish major is required for permanent certification. FAU’s College of Education offers a range of education courses required by the State and that complement the Spanish major. Visit http://www.coe.fau.edu/teached/default.htm for more information about education courses.
Students interested in State certification for Foreign Language Teachers, should visit the following website of the Florida Department of Education: http://www.fldoe.org/educator
Teachers in need of re-certification courses are encouraged to enroll in appropriate classes as “non-degree seeking” students in our program.
